1809‐84 French author. Born in Beaune. As one of the so-called Petit Romantics, he showed an eccentric anti-bourgeois attitude, but lived an unfortunate life. Works such as "Untitled" and "A Vapor, Neither Verse nor Prose" (both 1818) are imbued with cruelty and irony, but also express a yearning for the heavenly. He was forgotten for a long time, but since he was noticed by Breton and others, he has gradually been reevaluated. [Iwaya Kunio] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
