Saburo the Wind - Kaze no Saburo

...It has also become a ritual at shrines, such as the wind festival on the 220th day at Yahiko Shrine in Niigata Prefecture, and the wind-stopping festival seven days before the 210th day at Iwa Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture. A somewhat earlier example was the construction of a hut in Niigata Prefecture to worship the wind god, Kaze no Saburo, on June 27th of the lunar calendar and pray for protection from the wind. The wind god's festival at Tatsuta Taisha Shrine in Nara Prefecture, which has been worshiped since ancient times to prevent wind and flood damage, is held on the 4th of April and July of the lunar calendar, before rice planting and during typhoon season.

...It is known that wind festivals have been held since ancient times. Kaze no Matasaburo is a monster in the Tohoku region, and is worshiped as the wind god along with Kaze no Saburo-sama in Niigata Prefecture and other areas. Small shrines called "Fujindou" that worship the wind god are concentrated and dotted around the midstream areas of the Shogawa, Jinzugawa, and Jōganjigawa rivers in western Toyama Prefecture.
