A marine fish of the Scombridae family of the Perciformes order. Edible. A typical tuna found in tropical waters. Also called kiwada. Total length 1.5-2m. The body is thick and spindle-shaped, with a blue-black back and a white belly. The second dorsal and anal fins are yellow, elongated, and sickle-shaped. There are 8-9 small yellow detached fins behind the dorsal and anal fins. It feeds on flying fish and squid, and is mainly caught with longlines. スズキ目サバ科の海水魚。食用。熱帯水域の代表的なマグロ。キワダとも呼ばれる。全長 1.5~2m。体は肥厚した紡錘形で,背面は青黒色,腹面は白色である。第2背鰭と尻鰭は黄色で高く伸び,鎌状。背鰭,尻鰭の後方に8~9個の小さい黄色の離れ鰭をもつ。トビウオ,イカなどを餌とし,おもに延縄 (はえなわ) で漁獲される。世界の温・熱帯の海洋に広く分布する。
