Foam laminate

Japanese: フォームラミネート（英語表記）foam laminate

This refers to a material made by laminating thin, cloth-like pieces of foam (foamed material) with cloth. Urethane foam is the main foam used. It is light, soft, and has excellent heat retention properties, so it is used for cold weather clothing, carpet backing, automobile interior parts, interior building materials, etc. Aluminum-deposited clothing laminated with urethane foam reflects heat and has good insulation properties, so it is used for high-temperature work clothes and curtains. A nylon base fabric with urethane foam laminated on both sides and flocked with nylon flock makes a lightweight blanket with excellent heat retention.

布状の薄片にしたフォーム(発泡体)と布を張り合わせたものをいう。フォームとしてはウレタンフォームが主として用いられる。軽くて柔らかく，保温性に優れているので，防寒衣料などとして用いられるほか，カーペットの裏打ち，自動車内装品，内装用建材などに用いられる。ウレタンフォームをラミネートしたアルミ蒸着衣料は，熱を反射し断熱性がよいので高温作業服やカーテンに用いられる。ナイロン基布の両面にウレタンフォームをラミネートし，ナイロンフロックを植毛したものは，軽量できわめて保温性のよい毛布となる。
