A resort and tourist city in southeastern Florida, USA. Population 163,000 (1994). Facing the Atlantic Ocean at the southeastern tip of the Florida peninsula, it is a resort town with beautiful sandy beaches. It also faces a canal connecting the Atlantic Ocean with Lake Okeechobee and has a port. The city's marinas are one of the largest in the world. There are factories manufacturing furniture, boats and yachts, electrical appliances, plastic products, fertilizers, and more.
