Bell‐magpie (English spelling)

Japanese: フエガラス(笛鴉) - フエガラス（英語表記）bell‐magpie

A general term for birds of the passerine family Strepidae, or the genus Strepera, or for one species of the genus. The genus Strepera consists of two or three species, including the common crow S. graculina , which is found in eastern Australia, and is found in Australia and Tasmania. It is about 50 cm long. Its body is mostly black or dark gray, with white areas on the wings, undertail, and tail feathers. Its beak is strong and long, with a slightly hooked tip. It lives in open forests and shrubs, and lives in small groups except during the breeding season.

スズメ目フエガラス科の鳥，または同科フエガラス属の鳥の総称，もしくは同属の1種をさす。フエガラス属Streperaはオーストラリア東部に分布するフエガラスS.graculinaなど2～3種よりなり，オーストラリアとタスマニア島に分布している。全長約50cm。全身ほとんど黒色ないし暗灰色で，翼，下尾筒，尾羽などに白色の部分がある。くちばしはじょうぶで長く，先が少しかぎ状に曲がっている。開けた森林や低木林にすみ，繁殖期以外は小群で生活している。
