A city located almost in the center of the state of Alaska in the United States. It is located on the banks of the Chena River, a tributary of the Tanana River. It is the terminus of the Alaska Highway and the Alaska Railroad, and is a mining and transportation center. The population increased during the Gold Rush in 1902, reaching 8,000 by 1906, and gold production reached $9 million.
