A type of skin cancer. It is a solid white-yellow tumor that gradually expands centrifugally, with the center sinking and becoming ulcerated. This is what causes ulcerative ulcers. In Asian people, black pigmentation is often seen. In low-grade malignant stages, it is sometimes called basal cell epithelioma. Taking into account clinical and histological findings, it is classified into nodular ulcer type, scarring flat type, superficial type, morphea type, destructive type, and Pincus type tumor. The most common sites are the face (around the nose and ears, eyelids, etc.), followed by the head, and it does not occur on the palms or soles. It grows invasively in the peripheral area, forming deep giant ulcers, and may extend to bones and other areas, but metastasis to lymph nodes and other organs is rarely observed. It occurs most frequently from middle age onwards, but a special type occurs on the face and trunk from birth to adolescence.

皮膚癌の1つ。白黄色の充実性腫瘍で，徐々に遠心性に拡大し，中央部は陥没して潰瘍化する。蚕食性潰瘍はこれによる。黄色人種ではしばしば黒色の色素沈着がみられる。悪性度の低い段階のものは基底細胞上皮腫と呼ぶこともある。臨床ならびに組織所見を加味して，結節潰瘍型，瘢痕化扁平型，表在型，斑状強皮症型，破壊型，ピンカス型腫瘍などに分類されている。好発部位は顔面 (鼻や耳の周辺，眼瞼など) ，次いで頭部で，手掌や足底には発生しない。周辺部に浸潤性に増殖し，深い巨大潰瘍を形成し，骨その他に及ぶことはあるが，リンパ節その他の臓器への転移はほとんど認められない。中年以降に好発するが，特殊型は出生時から思春期にかけて顔面や躯幹に発生する。
