Born: February 22, 1890 in Innsbruck Died April 27, 1980. Innsbruck. Austrian legal philosopher and international law scholar. After studying at the universities of Vienna, Munich, and Lausanne, he taught at the University of Vienna (1921), and later became its rector (51). Although he belonged to the Viennese School of Law, he was drawn closer to the theory of natural law in Neo-Thomism. In the field of international law, he attempted to unify and systematize positive international law based on value philosophy. His main works are Abendländische Rechtsphilosophie (Western Legal Philosophy) (58) and Völkerrecht (International Law) (64).
