A collection of ancient documents from the Edo period. This is a collection of facsimile documents compiled during the Bunka and Bunsei eras (1804-1830) by Komiyama Masahide (penname Fuken), a Mito domain samurai who was a historian in the service of Shokokan and also known as a civil statesman. The original copy he compiled is held in the National Archives of Japan's Cabinet Library. Masahide was known for his prolific calligraphy and wrote many other works, but this book, along with the Shiro Bunko documents, is a peerless collection of facsimile documents compiled by individuals in the Edo period in terms of its nationwide scope and volume. Most of the copies are handwritten copies, with some handwriting mixed in. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
