?‐1388 The third emperor of the Tughlaq dynasty of India. Reigned 1351-88. Cousin of the second emperor Muhammad ibn Tughlaq. Towards the end of Muhammad's reign, the Deccan region became independent from the Tughlaq dynasty's control, but Firoz Shah did not launch any major military campaigns and limited his domain to mostly northern India. He had irrigation systems built in northern India and many mosques constructed. He also had the city of Firozābād built as his capital in the Delhi area.
