1776‐1853 Polish-born mathematician and philosopher. After serving as a soldier in the Polish War of Independence, he studied in Germany and France, and made his mark as a mathematician. He believed that numbers are not merely rational laws, but represent the fundamental movement of all human activity, from the abstract to the concrete (what he called "absolutes"); in this respect his number theories were similar to those of Saint-Martin and Eckartshausen. This led to his numerous works, ranging from mathematics ("First Principles of Arithmetic") to philosophy and religion ("Messianism, or the Absolute Reformation of Human Knowledge"), and even political letters addressed to the Pope and Napoleon III. 1776‐1853 ポーランド生れの数学者,哲学者。
