Admiral of the Dutch East Indies expedition. Born in Amsterdam. Inspired by the success of Houtman's East Indies voyage (1595-97), a trading company established in Amsterdam sent a fleet of eight ships to the East Indies in 1598, and Neck was appointed admiral. The fleet arrived in Banten, Java at the end of the same year. Neck returned home with four ships in 1599, and the remaining four ships reached Ambon, the Banda Islands, and the Maluku Islands, setting up trading posts in the Banda Islands and Ternate, and returning home with a large cargo of spices.

オランダの東インド派遣船隊提督。アムステルダム生れ。ハウトマンの東インド航海(1595‐97)の成功に刺激されてアムステルダムに設立された貿易会社が，1598年東インドに8隻からなる船隊を派遣し，ネックはその提督に任命された。船隊は同年末ジャワ島バンテンに到着。ネックは99年4隻を率いて帰国し，残った4隻はアンボン島，バンダ諸島，モルッカ諸島へ到達し，バンダ諸島，テルナテ島に商館を設置し，多量の香料を積荷として帰国した。
