Leader of the Dutch East Indies Theosophical Society. From the beginning of the 20th century, branches of the Theosophical Society were established by the Dutch in various parts of Indonesia. The Semarang branch in 1901 and the Yogyakarta branch in 1902 are well known, but from around 1912 to April 1923, Labberton taught Javanese at William III Gymnasium in Batavia (now Jakarta), while also serving as chairman of the society and active through the Monthly Theosophical Journal. He also had close ties with Javanese aristocrats and leaders of Budi Utomo who shared his mysticism.

オランダ領東インド神智学協会の指導者。20世紀初めから，インドネシアの各地にオランダ人によって神智学協会の支部が設立された。1901年のスマラン館，02年のジョクジャカルタ館などが知られているが，ラッベルトンは12年ごろから23年4月まで，バタビア(現，ジャカルタ)のウィレム3世ギムナジウムでジャワ語を教えるかたわら，協会の議長を務め，《月刊神智学》によって活動した。彼はまた，神秘主義を共有するジャワ人の貴族やブディ･ウトモの指導者たちと深い関係をもった。
