〘名〙 単位の名称。促音、撥音に続くとき「ぷん」となる。① 重さの単位。また、銀目の単位。匁(もんめ)の一〇分の一、厘(りん)の一〇倍。ぶ。〔ロドリゲス日本大文典(1604‐08)〕② 時間の単位。一時間の六〇分の一、一秒の六〇倍。※暦象新書(1798‐1802)中「一時を六十分とし、一分を六十秒とす」③ 角度や、経度・緯度の単位。度(ど)の六〇分の一、秒の六〇倍。※北極出地測量艸(1834)(古事類苑・文学四一)「夫より以来、漸く離れ、今に至ては五度四十余分の処に在り」
