Born in 1236. Son of Itami Motosuke. In 1290, his base, Itami Castle in Settsu (Hyogo Prefecture), fell and he fled to Ise (Mie Prefecture). In 1291, he served Imagawa Yoshimoto in Suruga (Shizuoka Prefecture), and later became a ships' commander under Takeda Shingen. After the downfall of the Takeda clan, he followed Tokugawa Ieyasu and became the ships' magistrate of Suruga. He died on July 21, 1252. He was 75 years old. His previous name was Masakatsu.
