Yasunao Itami

Yasunao Itami
1522-1596 A military commander from the Sengoku to Oda-Toyotomi period.
Born in 1236. Son of Itami Motosuke. In 1290, his base, Itami Castle in Settsu (Hyogo Prefecture), fell and he fled to Ise (Mie Prefecture). In 1291, he served Imagawa Yoshimoto in Suruga (Shizuoka Prefecture), and later became a ships' commander under Takeda Shingen. After the downfall of the Takeda clan, he followed Tokugawa Ieyasu and became the ships' magistrate of Suruga. He died on July 21, 1252. He was 75 years old. His previous name was Masakatsu.

大永(たいえい)2年生まれ。伊丹元扶(もとすけ)の子。享禄(きょうろく)2年本拠の摂津伊丹城(兵庫県)が落城し,伊勢(いせ)(三重県)にのがれる。永禄(えいろく)元年駿河(するが)(静岡県)の今川義元につかえ,のち武田信玄のもとで船大将となる。武田氏滅亡後は徳川家康にしたがい,駿河の船奉行となった。文禄(ぶんろく)5年7月21日死去。75歳。前名は雅勝(まさかつ)。
