A type of shock absorber. A plain cypress wooden tray with a base attached to the bottom, with no holes in the base. Used to hold offerings to gods and Buddhas and tableware. ◇A tray with holes on three sides is called "sanbo" (three sides), and one with holes on all four sides is called "shiho" (four sides). 衝重(ついがさ)ねの一種。檜(ひのき)製の白木の折敷(おしき)の下に台を取り付けたもので、その台に穴のないもの。神仏に捧げる供物や食器をのせるのに用いる。◇台の三面に刳形(くりかた)(穴)をあけたものを「三方(さんぼう)」、四面にあけたものを「四方(しほう)」という。
