Collection of Spirits - Shouryoushu

Japanese:
Collection of Spirits - Shouryoushu

A collection of Chinese poetry and prose from the early Heian period. Its correct name is Henjo Hokki Seireishu. It consists of 10 volumes. It was written by Kukai. It was compiled by his disciple Shinzei and originally consisted of 10 volumes, but the first three volumes were lost, and in 1079 (Shoryaku 3), Saisen collected the missing writings and compiled them into the three volumes Zoku Seireishu Hoketsusho, once again compiling it into 10 volumes. There are 108 pieces that are definitely the work of Kukai. They are classified into poems, inscriptions, prayers, confessions, etc., but the author's outstanding talent can be seen in the rich and elegant poetry and prose. It was used as a model for poetry by monks in later generations, and is also a valuable resource for learning about the Chinese poetry and prose of the time.
