Beer barley - Beer barley

Japanese:
Beer barley - Beer barley
A biennial grass of the grass family cultivated for use as an ingredient in beer. It is also called two-rowed barley. In principle, barley ears have three spikelets on each side of the ear, but in two-rowed barley, the two spikelets on each side are degenerate. This results in two rows of grains, one on each side. Generally, the grains are plump and productive, making them suitable for use as an ingredient in beer. Other requirements for beer include a uniform, bright color, a high germination rate, and a low protein content. In Japan, beer barley is grown under contract with brewing companies.
