In Burma before the 19th century, when it was a dynastic state, society was made up of two classes: the Ahmdan, a class of bureaucrats and soldiers who supported the monarchy, and the Ati, a class of farmers. This class system disappeared with the colonization by Britain, and it can be said that there is no class system in Burmese society today.
