Rose apple

Japanese: フトモモ - ふともも（英語表記）rose apple

A tropical fruit tree of the Myrtaceae family with a mild taste (illustration). It is an evergreen tree that can reach over 10m in height, with opposite leaves that are long lanceolate and about 20cm long, leathery, dark green and shiny. The flowers are racemes that grow at the ends of the branches, and the lower ovary is bell-shaped, with four beautiful white petals and numerous stamens bunched together from the top, and the style of the pistil protrudes. The fruit is egg-shaped, 3-5cm in diameter, with the sepals remaining at the apex. The fruit is milky yellow to pink white in color, and has a rose-like fragrance.
