French soldier and chronicler. He served under the Count of Champagne and was valued in politics and diplomacy, and was involved in many diplomatic negotiations, such as asking Venice to join the Crusades. He participated in the Fourth Crusade in 1202. After the establishment of the Latin Empire in 1204, he was given part of it as a fief, and wrote his first work in French prose, La Conquête de Constantinople, in the Thrace region of Greece around 1212.

フランスの軍人，年代記作者。シャンパーニュ伯に仕える軍人であり，政治，外交面でも重用され，ベネチアに十字軍への参加を依頼するなど多くの外交交渉にあたった。 1202年第4回十字軍に参加。 04年ラテン帝国設立後，その一部を封土として与えられ，12年頃ギリシアのトラキア地方でフランス語散文による最初の作品『コンスタンチノープル征服』 La Conquête de Constantinopleを著わした。
