Around 1756 - 1818
A poet of the first period of the Lucknow School, a school of Urdu literature in India. He was from a distinguished family that descended from the sixth Shiite Imam. Born in Murshidabad, he moved to Faizabad with his father, and at the age of 16, he entered the court of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daulah of the Sultanate of Oudh. A very handsome and eloquent man, he won the favor of the Nawab, but he also aroused the jealousy of many, and after the Nawab's death he moved from place to place, including Delhi. In his later years, he returned to Lucknow.

インドのウルドゥー語文学の一派であるラクナウ詩派第1期の詩人。シーア派第6代イマームの家系に連なる名門の出である。ムルシダーバードで生まれた彼は，父に伴われてファイザーバードに移り，16歳の時にアウド王国のナワーブ･シュジャーウッダウラの宮廷に出仕した。非常な美男子で能弁であった彼はナワーブの寵を集めたが，多くのねたみも買い，ナワーブの没後デリーをはじめ各地を転々とした。晩年は再びラクナウに戻った。
