Ikenozenni - Ikenozenni

Dates of birth and death unknown. A woman from the late Heian period. Her father was Shonagon Fujiwara Munekane. She became the second wife of Taira Tadamori and gave birth to Shuri-no-dayu Iemori and Yorimori. After her husband's death, she entered the Buddhist priesthood. She was called Ikenono (Iken's Grand Minister) because she lived in Ikenono, one of the Taira clan's Rokuhara mansions. Her son Yorimori was also called Ikenadainagon (Iken's Grand Minister). When Minamoto no Yoritomo was captured during the Heiji Rebellion (1159), he begged for his life to be spared because he resembled the late Iemori. Taira no Kiyomori listened to his stepmother's advice and exiled Yoritomo to Izu. Ikenono's words changed history greatly. Later, Yoritomo invited Yorimori to Kamakura to repay her kindness.

生没年不詳。平安後期の女性。父は少納言(しょうなごん)藤原宗兼(むねかね)。平忠盛(ただもり)の後妻となって修理大夫家盛(いえもり)、頼盛(よりもり)を生む。夫の死後は仏門に入る。平家の六波羅(ろくはら)館の一つ池殿(いけどの)に居住したところから池禅尼と称した。子の頼盛が池大納言とよばれるのもこれによる。平治(へいじ)の乱（1159）で捕らえられた源頼朝(よりとも)が、いまは亡き家盛に似ているところから助命を請い、この継母の意見を入れて平清盛は頼朝を伊豆に流した。池禅尼の一言が歴史を大きく変えたことになる。のちに頼朝は、頼盛を鎌倉に招いてその恩に報いた。
