A human trafficker is someone whose occupation is human trafficking. After 1178 (Jisho 2), the Imperial Court stated that the capital was filled with people who kidnapped and sold people, and repeatedly ordered various provinces to detain them. However, after 1197 (Kenkyu 8), the Kamakura Shogunate also repeatedly banned human trafficking under Imperial Court law. The rampant practice of human traffickers who kidnapped people and sold them in border areas became so rampant that it caused social unrest. The Kamakura Shogunate tightened the ban, branding human traffickers with fire and punishing them in the same way as thieves. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
