French actor. Her husband, Georges Pitoëff (1884-1939), was a more accomplished director. Born in Tiflis (now Tbilisi), Russia, to a theater manager, Georges studied under Stanislavsky and Dalcroze before moving to Paris in 1914. The following year he married Ludmilla (1895-1951), and moved to Geneva, where he recruited amateurs, first performing in Russian and then in French, and gradually winning recognition for his performances of Chekhov, Ibsen, Lenormand, and others. フランスの俳優。夫ジョルジュGeorges Pitoëff(1884‐1939)はむしろ演出家として優れる。ジョルジュはロシアのティフリス(現,トビリシ)の劇場支配人の子として生まれ,スタニスラフスキーやダルクローズの教えを受けた後,1914年パリに出る。翌年ルドミラLudmilla(1895‐1951)と結婚し,ジュネーブに移ってアマチュアを募り,はじめはロシア語で,やがてフランス語でチェーホフ,イプセン,ルノルマンなどを演じしだいに認められる。
