Conversion - Kaishin

In Buddhism, it is called "eshin." It refers to coming to faith through a fundamental change or reversal of one's mind, and the accompanying change in attitude and behavior. It is often used to refer to a sudden process of conversion, but it can also be gradual. Depending on the motivation, conversion can be divided into impulsive and voluntary. In the 19th century, the psychology of religion began to elucidate its psychological basis. The work of Starbuck and W. James is well known.
