Hippolytos

Hippolytos
A character in Greek mythology. Son of King Theseus of Athens and the Amazon Hippolyta. He spent his days hunting and playing sports, but his father's second wife, Phaedra (daughter of King Minos of Crete), fell in love with him, but her love was not fulfilled and she committed suicide. However, contrary to the truth, she left a note saying that she was going to commit suicide because Hippolytus had been courting her, so Theseus banished his son and prayed to his father, the sea god Poseidon, to punish him. As Hippolytus was galloping along the coast in his chariot, a monster sent by the sea god suddenly appeared from the sea, frightened his horse, stood still, and fell off, and was run over and killed by the chariot.
