Moving to Tokyo
[1] One of the administrative districts of Kyoto City. Established in 1889. The area is in the northwest of the city, between the Kamo River and the Kamiya River (Tenjin River). Home to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, the Kyoto Prefectural Office, and Doshisha University, it is an administrative and cultural center. In 1955 , Kita-ku was divided. [2] The name given to the northern part of Kyoto City, bordered by Sanjo Street. *Taiheiki (late 14th century) 33: "On the morning of February 15th, it was heard that the forces of Higashiyama advanced into the capital and took provisions."

Jō-kyō jaukyō [Going to Tokyo]

〘 noun 〙 Going up to the capital. In the past, it meant going from the provinces to Kyoto. Nowadays, it means going from the provinces to Tokyo. ※Munetan Diary - Tensho 14th Year (1586) "On the 23rd, I went to Kyoto and stayed at Muneoki-ro's inn for the first time."
