Yin Yuanliang

An 18th century Ryukyu painter. His real name was Zamami Yosho, and his pen name was Tei-ki. In 1729, he was summoned to the court of King Sho Kei, where he studied painting under Wu Shi-ken (Yamaguchi Muneki). In 1752, he traveled to Qing as a tribute envoy to hone his painting skills, and after returning to Japan, he painted a portrait of King Sho Kei. He excelled in detailed paintings of flowers and birds, and landscapes in the style of literati painting. He was known in Japan during his lifetime, as mentioned in Kimura Tangen's art treatise Sankyo-an Zasshi. His works include "A Millet Quail" (1748, Okura Museum of Art), "Landscape" (1753, Masaki Museum of Art), and "Pheasant in the Snow" (Okinawa Prefectural Museum). <References> Higa Choken, "Family of Ryukyu Painters of the Recent Eras" (Bijutsu Kenkyu, issues 45 and 48)

18世紀の琉球の画家。本名は座間味庸昌。字は廷器。尚敬17(1729)年,尚敬王の宮廷に召され,呉師虔(山口宗季)に絵を学んだ。尚穆1(1752)年,進貢使の一員として清に渡って画技を磨き,帰国後,尚敬王の肖像画を描いた。細密な花鳥画,文人画風の山水画をよくする。木村探元の画論『三暁庵雑志』に言及があるように,生前から日本に知られていた。作品に「粟鶉図」(1748,大倉集古館蔵),「山水図」(1753,正木美術館蔵),「雪中雉子図」(沖縄県立博物館蔵)など。<参考文献>比嘉朝健「琉球歴代画家譜」(『美術研究』45,48号)
