③ In 1127, after the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Jin dynasty was established in the former territory of the Song Dynasty. It arose near present-day Jiangling in Hubei Province. In the 8th century BC, it proclaimed itself king and expanded its territory to Henan, and at the end of the 7th century BC, King Zhuang (reigned 613-591 BC) became one of the Five Hegemons of the Spring and Autumn Period. In 506 BC, it was devastated by the Wu Dynasty, but in the early 4th century BC, under King Dao, it became powerful and dominated the Central Plains. It was later oppressed by the Qin Dynasty and was destroyed in 223 BC.
The founder, Ma Yin, established the state based in Changsha. He ruled over the whole of Hunan and the northern part of Guangxi, and was very wealthy. After the death of Xi Fan, a succession dispute between his brothers ensued, and the state's power weakened, until it was destroyed by the Southern Tang.
Died within a month.

現在の湖北省江陵 (こうりよう) 付近におこった。前８世紀に王号を称し，河南に領土を広げ，前７世紀末には荘王（在位前613〜前591）が春秋の五覇 (ごは) のひとりとなった。前506年，呉のために壊滅的打撃を受けたが，前４世紀初め悼 (とう) 王のとき強盛となり，中原の覇者となった。のち秦の圧迫を受け，前223年滅亡。
始祖馬殷 (ばいん) が長沙 (ちようさ) を本拠として建国。湖南全体と広西の北部を領有，富強を誇った。希範の死後，兄弟間の相続争いが続いて国力が衰え，南唐に滅ぼされた。
1か月余で滅亡。
