Glanders - Biso

Japanese: 鼻疽 - びそ
Glanders - Biso
Also known as equine glanders. Originally caused by the glanders bacteria, this is a legally regulated infectious disease of horses and donkeys. It is not endemic in Japan. It can sometimes spread to humans and other livestock. Abscesses form in the nasal mucosa and lungs, and the disease often leads to lymphatic system lesions throughout the body and death. Sulfa drugs and antibiotics are used for treatment.
