A mineral whose main component is bismuth. Bismuth Bi is a metal that is relatively rare in the earth's crust. Therefore, it is not found as an independent mineral in ordinary rocks, but under special conditions, it can form native bismuth, pyromorphite (Bi ₂ S _{3 )} , pyromorphite (Bi ₂ O _{3 )} , and pyromorphite carbonate (BiO) ₂ CO _3. Of these, native pyromorphite and pyromorphite are important resources and are mainly found in contact metasomatic and hydrothermal deposits. However, there are very few mines that are primarily operated for bismuth.

ビスマスを主要成分とする鉱物。ビスマスBiは地殻中の存在度が比較的少ない金属である。したがってふつうの岩石中には独立した鉱物としては含まれていないが，特殊な条件の下では，自然ソウ(蒼)鉛Bi，輝ソウ鉛鉱Bi₂S₃，酸化ソウ鉛鉱Bi₂O₃，炭酸ソウ鉛鉱(BiO)₂CO₃などを作る。この中で自然ソウ鉛と輝ソウ鉛鉱が資源として重要であって，おもに接触交代鉱床と熱水性鉱床中に産出する。しかしビスマスを主要な稼行対象としている鉱山はほとんどない。
