Japanese: 電灯 - でんとう(英語表記)electric lamp
Electric lamp
Refers to lights that use electricity, specifically light sources for illumination. Sometimes it refers to lights using incandescent light bulbs. In a broader sense, it also includes neon signs for advertising and decoration, photo bulbs, traffic lights, sun lamps, and germicidal lamps. They can be classified according to the method of emitting light as follows: (1) Incandescent lamps for ordinary lighting These use the heat generated by a tungsten filament. (2) Fluorescent lamps and other lamps that use secondary light These emit light by irradiating a fluorescent material in the tube wall with electrons caused by a discharge. (3) Discharge lamps These use incandescent light generated by an arc discharge between electrodes. Depending on the type of vapor enclosed, they are called mercury lamps, sodium lamps, etc. Neon lamps, sun lamps, and arc lamps are also types of discharge lamps.
