Bishop's ring

A faint reddish-brown ring that appears around the Sun in a clear sky. Around noon, the inner radius of the ring is about 10° and the outer radius is about 20°, but when the sun is low in the sky, the ring becomes larger. The Bishop Ring was first seen after the great eruption of the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia in 1883, and was visible around the world until 1886. In recent years, it was observed after the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991. It is named after Reverend Bishop, who first observed it in Hawaii. It is caused by diffraction caused by fine dust particles in the upper atmosphere, and from its outer radius, the average diameter of the fine dust particles is estimated to be 0.00185 mm.
