Asabasho - The Asabasho

Japanese: 阿娑縛抄 - あさばしょう

This is the only iconographical collection in the Taimitsu esoteric Buddhism that includes the various Tendai Esoteric Buddhism sects, rituals related to the sutras, oral traditions, images, records of rituals, and abbreviated descriptions of various temples. It consists of 228 or 227 volumes. It was compiled by Jocho (1205-82), or according to some sources, Soncho, and the outline was completed by around Bun'ei 12 (1975) with extensive reference to the iconographical collections of both Tendai and Shingon Esoteric Buddhism. It was subsequently expanded.

天台密教の諸尊法，経法に関する儀軌，口伝や図像をはじめ，修法の記録や諸寺略記などを収録した台密では唯一の図像集。 228巻あるいは 227巻。承澄 (1205～82) ，一説には尊澄によって撰述され，広く天台，真言両密教の図像集を参照して，文永 12 (75) 年頃までに大要が成立，その後も増補が行われた。
