Nankai Electric Railway - Nankai Electric Railway
A private railway company. Founded in 1884 as a railway line between Osaka and Sakai, it later changed its name to Hankai Railway. In 1925, Koyasan Electric Railway was established. In 1947, the company changed its name to the current one, taking over lines that had belonged to the former Nankai Railway from Kintetsu Railway. In 1948, it took over the Nankai Bus Company's business, and in 1961, it merged with Wakayama Electric Tramway. In 1971, direct service between the Semboku Rapid Railway and the Koya Line began. In 1980, the entire Namba CITY shopping center was opened. In 1990, Nankai South Tower Hotel Osaka was opened. In 1998, it merged with Osaka Stadium Kogyo. In addition to railways, the company operates buses, real estate sales and rentals, and amusement parks. It also participated in the Namba district redevelopment plan, and in 2007, the entire Namba Parks complex was opened. The routes are the Nankai Main Line (Namba-Wakayama City), Koya Line (Namba-Gokurakubashi), Takashihama Line, Tanagawa Line, Kada Line, Wakayamako Line, Airport Line, and Cable Line.

私鉄会社。1884年創立の大阪堺間鉄道が発祥,のち阪堺鉄道と改称。1925年高野山電気鉄道設立。1947年現社名に変更し,近畿日本鉄道から旧南海鉄道に属した路線などを譲り受けた。1948年南海乗合自動車の事業を継承,1961年和歌山電気軌道を合併。1971年泉北高速鉄道と高野線との相互直通運転開始。1980年ショッピングセンター,なんばCITY全館開業。1990年南海サウスタワーホテル大阪を開業。1998年大阪スタヂアム興業を合併。大阪市と和歌山県を結ぶ路線をもち,鉄道のほかバス,不動産の分譲・賃貸事業,遊園事業を経営。難波地区再開発計画にも参画し,2007年なんばパークス全館開業。路線は南海本線(なんば―和歌山市),高野線(なんば―極楽橋),高師浜線,多奈川線,加太線,和歌山港線,空港線,ケーブル線。
