A new rice field opened in Kawachi Province in the mid-Edo period. It was located in the western part of what is now Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture. It was developed on the old riverbed in 1704 (the first year of the Hoei era) following the diversion of the Yamato River, and is divided into three new rice fields: Hishiya Higashishinden (Hishikawa River, Wakae County), Hishiya Nakashinden (Kusune River, same county), and Hishiya Nishishinden (Kubota River, Shibukawa County). The developer was Hishiya Iwanosuke of Araya Village, Wakae County, with construction starting in 1704 and completed in 1708. As a result, Higashishinden had an area of 45 cho (minahata) with a total land area of 456 koku, Nakashinden had an area of 14 cho (42% rice paddies, 58% fields) with a total land area of 150 koku, and Nishishinden had an area of 21 cho (minahata) with a total land area of 215 koku.
