This hot spring is located in Hachimantai, Kazuno City, northeastern Akita Prefecture. It is one of the centers of Towada-Hachimantai National Park, and the Aspite Line runs from Hachimantai Station on the Hanawa Line. The spring is an acidic hydrogen sulfide spring with a temperature of 85-90°C. There is a nature trail that takes you around the "hells" of active volcanic activity, including the Oname and Motome fumaroles, Oyunuma, and mud volcanoes, and the primitive hot air bath is also popular. Together with the nearby Toshichi Onsen and the ondol-style steam bath Fuke-no-yu, it is called the Hachimantai Onsenkyo, and has been designated a national hot spring.
