A former town in Nishimuro District, southern Wakayama Prefecture. Occupying the middle and lower reaches of the Hiki River, most of the town is covered by forests, producing timber and lumber. The Kisei Main Line runs through the town. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Shirahama Town, Nishimuro District. Area: 136.31 km2 . Population: 4,976 (2003).
