Comparison length measuring device

Also known as comparator. A general term for measuring instruments that use a block gauge or other standard gauge as a reference to compare the length of an object being measured and magnify the difference. Depending on the magnification mechanism, there are mechanical types such as dial gauges and micrometers, optical types that use an optical lever or optical interference, air micrometers that use air flow, electric micrometers that convert the value into an electrical quantity, and photoelectric types that use a photoelectric element and optical grid.
