...They live a floating life for nearly a year, molting repeatedly, transforming into Puerulus larvae about 2 cm long and moving to a bottom-dwelling lifestyle. This later stage of the larvae is close to the adult form, but is colorless and transparent, and is also called glass shrimp. They become juvenile shrimp after one molt, but it takes two full years after hatching for them to reach a reproductive age of about 4 cm in cephalothorax length.
