Bikaner
The largest oasis city in the Thar Desert, located in the northern part of Rajasthan, northwestern India. Former capital of the princely state of the same name. Surrounded by a fort, it has temples and palaces. Founded by the Rajputs in 1488. Carpets and blankets are the specialty of the city. Population: 644,000 (2011).
