A Rinzai sect monk from the late Muromachi period. Also known as Hasushi. Born in Omi Province (Shiga Prefecture), he entered Shokoku-ji Temple at the age of 14 and succeeded Bakugan Toshin. He received devout support from the Yamana clan of Hoki Province (Tottori Prefecture) and the Amago clan of Izumo Province (Shimane Prefecture), and lived at Hokoku-ji Temple and Kaizo-ji Temple in the same area. In Tenbun 9 (1540), he became the 90th abbot of Shokoku-ji Temple, and then entered Rokuon-in Temple, where he became a monk. He is said to have abridged the diary of Gido Shushin and compiled it into the "Kuka Nichiyo Kougen Rakushu," and similarly abridged the diary of Zuikei Shuho and titled it "Gaun Nichigenroku Bukuyou." Both are among the major surviving diaries of medieval Zen monks.
