Pieron, Henri
Born: July 18, 1881 in Paris
Died November 6, 1964. French psychologist in Paris. In 1912 he became director of the Laboratory of Physiological Psychology attached to the University of Paris, in 1921 he became a professor at the same university, and in 1923 he became a professor at the Collège de France. He advocated behavioral psychology (1908) as opposed to psychology that focuses on consciousness. His research areas were extremely broad, covering sleep, memory, animal psychology, testing, sensation, and perception, and his achievements in the study of the physiological psychology of sensations in particular have been highly praised. His achievements were remarkable, including the publication of "L'Année psychologique" (1895) and the establishment of a research institute. His main works include L'Évolution de la mémoire (1910), Le Cerveau et la pensée (23), Psychologie expérimentale (28), and La Sensation (45).
