Martin Van Buren

Japanese: バン・ビューレン(英語表記)Martin Van Buren
Martin Van Buren
1782‐1862
Eighth President of the United States. In office from 1837 to 1841. In the 1820s, he used the spoils system in New York State to create a tight-knit group of professional politicians known as the Albany Regency, which he led in 1828 to help Jackson win the presidency. The spoils system was consciously adopted by the Jackson administration, and the organizational principles of the Regency became a model for the development of the Jacksonian Democratic Party. He himself served as Secretary of State and Vice President under Jackson, and was later elected President.
