Pó tǎ (English spelling)

Japanese: 繁塔 - はんとう（英語表記）Pó tǎ

A tower in Guoxiang Temple, southeast of Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China. The temple was originally called Tianqing Temple, and the tower was first built during the Xiande period (954-959) of the Later Zhou Dynasty of the Five Dynasties. It was rebuilt in 977 (Taiping Xingguo 2) during the Northern Song Dynasty, and then burned down in war at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. When it was rebuilt in 1386 (Hongwu 19) during the Ming Dynasty, the top of the tower was scraped off. It has a triangular plan and is made of brickwork, with the exterior walls covered with bricks carved with small Buddha statues. Originally it was a nine-story tower, but now only the bottom three stories remain, with a small seven-story tower thought to have been added during the Ming Dynasty on top.

中国，河南省開封市南東の国相寺にある塔。寺はもと天清寺といい，塔は五代後周の顕徳年間(954‐959)の創建。北宋時代，977年(太平興国2)に再建され，さらに元代末期に兵火に遭い，明代の1386年(洪武19)に再建された際，塔頂をけずり去った。三角形平面，塼（せん）積みで，外壁一面に小仏像を浮彫した面塼を貼りつめている。当初は9層塔であったが，現在は底部3層のみがのこり，頂部に明代の補加とみられる7層小塔をのせる。
