Bandai [town] - Bandai
A town in Yama County in the mid-west of Fukushima Prefecture. It occupies the southwestern slope of Mt. Bandai and the eastern part of the Aizu Basin. The central settlement of Otera developed as a post station on the Nihonmatsu Highway, and the Ban'etsu West Line runs through it. Rice and field crops are cultivated here. The town sustained damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 59.77 km2 . 3,761 people (2010).
