A former town in Kamo District, southern Hiroshima Prefecture. The main settlement is in the Kurose River basin in the middle reaches. It has been a major rice producer since ancient times, and is known for its Matsutake mushrooms. It is strongly associated with Kure City's hinterland. In February 2005, it was incorporated into Higashihiroshima City along with Fukutomi Town, Toyosaka Town, and Kawachi Town in Kamo District, and Akitsu Town in Toyota District. 63.84 km2 .
