Around 1480 - 1528
An Italian High Renaissance painter. Also known as Jacopo Palma. His real name was Jacopo Negretti. He was born near Bergamo. He was one of a group of Venetian painters known as the Giorgioneschi, who followed Giorgione, who died young in 1510. He actually studied under Giovanni Bellini, but was strongly influenced by Giorgione, Titian, and Lotto. The beautiful blonde hair and voluptuous bodies of the women seen in his nudes and portraits can be said to be universal images of women that are also reminiscent of Rembrandt and Renoir.

イタリア盛期ルネサンスの画家。ヤコポ･パルマJacopo Palmaともいう。本名ネグレッティJacopo Negretti。ベルガモ近郊に生まれる。1510年に早世したジョルジョーネに追随する〈ジョルジョネスキGiorgioneschi〉と呼ばれるベネチアの一群の画家たちの一人。実際に師事したのはジョバンニ･ベリーニであったが，ジョルジョーネをはじめティツィアーノやロットの影響を強く受ける。彼の描く裸婦や肖像画にみられる女性の美しいブロンドの毛髪や豊かな肉体は，レンブラントやルノアールにも通ずる普遍的な女性像といえる。
